Account deletion deactivates your profile and submits a data erasure request under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA). You will be signed out.
How to delete in the app

Open Settings
Sign in to NaijaHook and go to Settings.

Your data (NDPA)
Scroll to the section labelled Your data (NDPA).

Delete account
Tap Delete account, then confirm in the dialog.

You’re signed out
Your profile is deactivated and an erasure request is submitted. You’re signed out of the app.
What happens when you delete
- Your profile is deactivated (is_active turned off).
- Display name is set to a generic “Deleted user”; bio, avatar, and location sharing are cleared.
- An erasure data request is logged for processing under the NDPA.
- You are signed out and can no longer use that account to chat or appear in Discover / Explore.
Some records may be retained for a limited time where required for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, or dispute resolution — as described in our Privacy Policy.
Other data requests
In the same Settings section you can also:
- Request my data — ask for a copy of your personal data (access).
- Request erasure — ask for erasure without using the full delete-account flow.
Can’t open the app?
Email us from the address linked to your account (or include your username) and ask to delete your account / erase your data:

Include your NaijaHook username and enough detail for us to verify the request. We’ll respond without undue delay.
